Below is a brief list of important recent updates
Dogs
Must be a minimum of 18 months for ALL classes
A dog CANNOT compete in 2 x Wheels classes, regardless of distances. They can compete in 2 classes but not in two long distance classes e.g. can do a 5km and a 3km but not 2 x 5km classes
New classes
2 dog scooter class (5km) Championship
Masters (previously Over 50’s). This is a 3km Championship class. You must be 50+ years to enter
Minors (Children’s) Classes have been renamed to align with International Canicross Federation (ICF) classes – Cadet (13-15), Young (10-12), School (7-9).
Mini musher class remains under 7.
Addition of Junior (16-18) Bike and Scooter Classes. Entries for these will be location dependent and at the discretion of the Committee. Night races are short course only and will be done while daylight.
Recreational Classes
Timing is available, if requested, for each of the recreational canicross and wheels classes.
Recreational Wheels class is for an Adult or Junior (16-18) competitor on bike or scooter with one or two dogs
Time Penalties
A competitor that is not in the starting position for their scheduled time, shall be declared LATE. They will receive a new start time in the class, if possible, or in a subsequent class racing the same course. There will be a MANDATORY 2-minute time penalty added to the final race time for ANY competitor that is declared LATE.
School (7-9) and Mini Musher (<7) classes, the child must be accompanied by an adult over the whole distance. The adult who accompanies must secure the dog with a leash that is longer than the leash of the child. The task of the adult is to ensure the safety of the child and may only intervene if a problem arises. The adult should never be ahead of the child: if this occurs, the penalty will be 1 minute.
